The South African Communist Party (SACP) in Mpumalanga province welcomes the recent arrests effected by the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (the HAWKS) in Msukaligwa municipality, the former DG in the Premier’s office and other government officials in various departments about allegations of corruption.

The SACP in Mpumalanga is inspired by the work done by the HAWKS which will assist to defend and extend a democratic public sector capable of providing strategic leadership towards economic growth, social coherence and development for the province.

The SACP has been vocal about the need to strengthen the law enforcement agencies to deal decisively with corruption and the abuse of office.

Notably, the vision for a more egalitarian society has tended to be downplayed by corruption and greed that are rooted in capitalism which is inherently corrupt. The SACP congratulates the HAWKS in our province and expects to see all criminals getting arrested to face the music of looting state resources.

We also call upon prosecution and judicial authorities to act with speed to ensure that the trial, conviction and sentencing for those who are guilty of corruption are concluded as a matter of urgency.

We also call upon law enforcement agencies to continue making arrests of all those who are stealing from the public purse. The SACP shall continue to fight against corruption wherever it rears its ugly head.
