The South African Communist Party (SACP) in the Western Cape will stage a mass picket ahead of the State of the Nation Address to highlight the debilitating multiple crises confronting the South African working-class. A memorandum detailing key demands and proposals to overcome the prevailing crisis situation will be handed over to relevant ministries and Parliament for immediate action in the interest of the working class.

The content of the memorandum will cover the critical issues including the electricity crisis, rising cost of living, rampant criminality, and collapse of the rail system. In addition, the SACP demands an inquest into the cowardly assassination of Chris Hani, SACP General Secretary and ANC leader.

Components of the Revolutionary Alliance including the African National Congress and Congress of South African Trade Unions will deliver messages of solidarity.

Venue: Hanover Street, Cape Town

Keynote: SACP General Secretary Solly Mapaila will provide the keynote address.
