The South African Communist Party (SACP) in Gauteng Province firmly welcomes and fully supports the announcement made this morning by Premier David Makhura to effect changes in the province’s Executive Council. We fully support and welcome the changes announced by the Premier because the African National Congress (ANC) fully consulted with the Alliance partners, that is the SACP and the Congress of South African Trade Unions (COSATU).
We strongly believe that the principled consultation with Alliance partners on this profound matter is consistent with the unifying and shared perspectives and practices that solidified the unity of the revolutionary Alliance under complex and difficult conditions since time immemorial. We congratulate comrades Dr Nomathemba Mokgethi who has been appointed MEC for Health, Morakane Mosupyoe as MEC for Social Development and Parks Tau as MEC for Economic Development, Agriculture and Environment. We have full confidence that the deployed comrades will serve the people of the province with maximum discipline, ethical and humbled commitment.
We also believe that the deployed cadres will also draw the solid line separating their personal resources from those of the people, and not use the people’s resources to “augment” their personal resources. We caution that failure to draw this important solid line will be tantamount to and border on state capture, looting and criminal theft from the working class and revolutionary people. We reaffirm our unwavering commitment, sparing nothing in our effort to fight any form of Guptarisation of our province. In the same spirit, we caution against any attempt at factional maneuvering that seeks to treat principled Alliance decisions with contempt.
We wish all deployed cadres very well in their commitment to serve the working class and revolutionary people as the core motive forces of the National Democratic Revolution (NDR).
