The South African Communist Party (SACP) in Gauteng Province congratulates comrade Thembi Mokgethi on her appointment as the new MEC for Social Development. We are confident that comrade Thembi Mokgethi is well positioned to place this Department at the service of the working class and revolutionary people in our province. We are convinced that she will make an indelible mark to combat the spread of Covid-19 and ameliorate its negative impact, eradicate poverty and fight the triple oppression of women against patriarchy and barbaric acts of gender-based violence. We are confident that she will execute this task to the best of her ability and within the confines of principled moral and ethical leadership.

We would like to appreciate the frank, open and principled consultation with the Alliance by the African National Congress (ANC) led by its Provincial Chairperson, comrade David Makhura. We believe that it is only through such principled revolutionary leadership that the Alliance will remain firmly united as the only pre-condition for the unity of the working class and overwhelming majority of the revolutionary people.

We wish comrade Thembi Mokgethi well in her new revolutionary duty.
