2 December 2019
The South African Communist Party (SACP) sends its deepest condolences to the family of Comrade Radhi-Sghaiar Bachir, the Ambassador of the Sahrawi Republic Embassy to South Africa from 2017 until his death on Wednesday 27 November 2019.
The SACP also sends heartfelt condolences to his comrades in the Polisario Front and the Saharawi people who continue the fight against Moroccan colonialism.
The role of Comrade Radhi in the struggle for the self-determination of the Saharawi people remains pronounced and will continue to inspire the oppressed people of his land to intensify the struggle for freedom. He dedicated his entire life to the struggle, contributing materially to the formation and life of the national liberation movement to which he belonged till his death, the Polisario Front, which continues to grow from strength to strength as the legitimate representative of the Saharawi people. A founding member of the Sahrawi Student Union in 1974, Comrade Radhi also championed youth and student struggles.
The SACP reiterates its continuing commitment to the struggle of the Saharawi people against the colonial Moroccan occupation. The SACP reaffirms its solidarity with the struggle of the people of Western Sahara and the Polisario Front. Morocco must respect human rights in Western Sahara. The international community must oblige in this regard. The SACP will continue pushing for a worldwide campaign to boycott Moroccan products. We also reiterate our rejection of the normalisation of the Moroccan occupation and colonialism over Western Sahara and its readmission to the African Union in violation of the Constitutive Act of the African Union.
