8 July 2019, George, Southern Cape
Declaration
We, the communist revolutionaries representing working class communities of the Southern Cape from Hessequa to Plettenberg Bay, met at George Civic Centre on 6 July 2019 to re-establish the SACP to take the spear and fight for socialist ideals here and now. We convened the re-launch Congress of Lizo Nkonki District under the theme: “Towards building a strong and vibrant working class party: organize, educate and fight for socialism”.
We declare our firm conviction to fight the hitherto uncontested tyranny entrenched by the champions of capitalist oppression as perpetrated by the Democratic Alliance (DA) and the capitalist in general in the respective municipalities of this region. We commit to re-energise the revolutionary organising and fighting capacity which the national liberation movement has, until now, waged relentless struggles against the exclusion of the poor majority from the economy, services and development within this region.
We emerged united with the support of our revolutionary Alliance and working class communities to confront all socio-economic injustices prevailing in this region with absolute determination in order to change the living conditions.
We pledge solidarity with, and fight for, working class interests pursuant to decent services, shelter, health, education, and livelihood.
Our collective responsibility is to build the SACP with theory and practice that entrenches the National Democratic Revolution which is our direct route to socialism.
We are clear about the dangers confronting the Mass Democratic Movement and we are determined to combat these subjective weaknesses relating to factionalism, patronage, and selfish-greed which present a threat to the credibility of the National Democratic Revolution. We will confront these challenges without fear or favour in order to place the interests of the people at the core of our priorities.
We will consciously ensure promotion of progressive unity between the Coloured and African sections of the working class and combat racism, chauvinism and apartheid era divide and rule tactic of the DA.
With unity of the Alliance as a precondition to progressively mobilise for, and realise, the people’s interests, Congress elected the following collective leadership to forge unity and execute the struggle, namely:
