The South African Communist Party (SACP), Congress of South African Trade Unions (Cosatu), African National Congress (ANC), National Education, Health and Allied Workers’ Union (Nehawu), and other progressive organisations will be picketing at the Unites States consulates in Johannesburg and Cape Town.
The pickets are in support of the people of Venezuela against the imperialist interference and violation of their national self-determination and sovereignty by the United States and its puppet and right-wing allies of Western Europe and North and South America.
The United States is pushing its illegal regime change agenda and is hell-bent on imposing an unelected individual as the president to lead an unelected government in Venezuela while the people of Venezuela have in terms of the rule of Venezuelan law elected President Nicolas Maduro to lead their elected government.
What the United States seeks to achieve through the undemocratic change of government is control and exploitation of the massively unprecedented national oil reserves, other mineral resources, and the overall economy and government of Venezuela.

Among other leaders, SACP 1st Deputy General Secretary, Comrade Solly Mapaila, will address the Cape Town picket, while Comrade Reneva Fourie, Member of the SACP 14th Congress Central Committee and Head of Secretariat, will address the Johannesburg picket.
