SACP in Gauteng Province conveys its deepest condolences to the family, friends and broader sections of the working class following the untimely death of comrade Khabisi Mosunkutu. Bra-Khabs, as he was affectionately known, died a martyr and stalwart, dedicated to the noble cause of the National Democratic Revolution (NDR) to realise the ideals embedded in the Freedom Charter.
He died loyal to the pursuance of this historic cause under the leadership of the revolutionary Alliance of the African National Congress (ANC), SACP, the Congress of SA Trade Unions (COSATU) and the SA National Civic Organisation (SANCO). He never displayed any deviationist tendency, confusion, doubt, divisiveness, factionalism or sought to minimise the NDR’s profound necessity to the concrete conditions of our country. He optimised the unity of all revolutionary forces.
Bra-Khabs served the entire revolutionary movement to the end, to the best of his ability, inspired by principles of selflessness and sacrifice. He understood that as a revolutionary, he could only make a contribution to the true liberation of the working class.
Bra-Khabs never placed demands on the revolutionary movement nor expected it to serve him personally.
On the contrary, Bra-Khabs fell victim to the organs of the democratic government he sacrificed his life to build and transform. This was during the sad episode when he could not be admitted at one of the government facilities in the period preceding his untimely death. Even under these difficult and extreme conditions, Bra-Khabs did not denounce the democratic government and the national liberation movement.
We will remember Bra-Khabs as a martyr and revolutionary who proved beyond any shadow of doubt that it is possible to serve the revolutionary people in any capacity without stealing from them and the public purse and to serve without a temptation of self-aggrandisement.
May his soul and mortal remain rest in eternal peace.
Rest in peace Bra-Khabs, our great commander.
We will fight to the end, victory is certain.
