The South African Communist Party (SACP) in Gauteng Province held a successful Provincial Council (PC) today in Germiston, Oupa Phasha District in the City of Ekhuruleni. The PC, which was attended by all branches in our province, is the highest decision-making body in between meetings of the Provincial Council (PEC).

PC received reports from the Augmented Central Committee (ACC) that was held just last week. PC extolled and appreciated the fact that our provincial membership growth has doubled in the last five (5) years from 24 000 to 50 000. PC committed to increase this number to at least 100 000 members before the centenary celebrations in July 2021.

Whilst PC correctly asserted that the Party`s quantitative growth should always and at all material times be analyzed and assessed in relation to its qualitative growth, this significant increase in numbers is most welcome and appreciated.

It was in this context therefore that the PC adopted a profound resolution to establish a strictly fifty (50) member Ideological and Political Commission to enhance the qualitative development of members and intensify class analysis of capitalism in our country and globally.

The Commission, which will meet at least fortnightly, will be constituted of highly advanced and experienced revolutionaries from within various sectors in society, taking into account the principles of non-racialism, class and gender.

We believe that the Idealogical and Political Commission will focus the Party structures for this term in qualitative development to ensure a strict balance between theory and practice, to push back the demons of money driven false consciousness, corrupt and toxic culture, factionalism and all forms of backward tendencies that border on bankrupt capitalist morality.

PC welcomed and appreciated the excellent and successful weekly election Blitz programme led by our hard working, "non-lazy" and hardworking Red Brigade working with COSATU. We recommitted ourselves to revolutionary discipline, militancy and patience to ensure decisive election victory for the ANC and its partners united as a Reconfigured Alliance.

PC wished all 50 000 communists, workers and revolutionary people in our province a restful, disciplined and save festive season in anticipation of class battles ahead in 2019.
