SACP Gauteng applauds Transport Minister Nzimande, for a principled commitment to engage workers on public transport and e-tolls
20 April 2018
The South African Communist Party (SACP) in Gauteng Province applauds and commends Transport Minister and SACP General Secretary Dr Blade Nzimande for the principled commitment to engage the Congress of South African Trade Unions (COSATU) on the issues of public transport and E-Tolls within the next few weeks.
Comrade Blade Nzimande, accompanied by Gauteng MEC of Road of Transport Dr Ishmael Vadi made the commitment this afternoon as part of his response to the memorandum of demands delivered by COSATU joined by SACP Gauteng Provincial leadership.
As the SACP in Gauteng we find it very remarkable that comrade Blade Nzimande came all the way to our province to receive the memorandum, a rare practice that we wish could be emulated by the entire political leadership of the democratic government.
We believe that this activist approach is in line with our 14th National Congress resolution for the SACP to lead a process of cadre development and education for public service managers to facilitate the development of a transformative public service responsive to our people and communities.
We are confident that the engagements will find a strategic zone of convergence on the need to deliver an integrated, accessible, affordable, safe and efficient public transport system that addresses the demand to ultimately scrap E-Tolls.
