SACP Gauteng distances itself from "planned" protest action

11 February 2018

The South African Communist Party Gauteng Province distances itself from the protest action "planned" in Tshwane tomorrow 11 February 2018.

The SACP has noted the press conference held today which claimed that the protest action was sanctioned with the support of the SACP.

We further distance ourselves from the man who claims to hold a position in the SACP who took part in the press conference. The man does not represent the SACP and any of its structures. In fact the man is not known to any structures of the SACP and therefore doesn't have a mandate to speak on our behalf.

The SACP is not aware of any formation that calls itself "Zuma Must Go" and we take serious issue with individuals using the name of our organisation for their personal narrow programme.

The leadership of the SACP will conduct a thorough investigation into the identity of the man who claimed to represent the party.

The SACP is a Marxist-Leninist vanguard party of the working class that espouses high levels of discipline and moral conduct that imposes an obligation on its members to lead by example.

We strongly condemn acts of anarchy, lawlessness and rampant appetite for destruction and violence.

Whilst we reaffirm the principled and profound decision taken by the Central Committee calling on the ANC President Jacob Zuma to resign or be recalled by the ANC, we believe that this matter is well within the purview of our national leadership and it remains seized with the matter.

We are reminded of the events leading to the 2016 local government elections when certain parts of the City of Tshwane were burned down without any disciplinary action taken against those responsible for the burning of the City.

As a result of the burning of the City and dismal failure of the disciplinary action, the working class was ultimately alienated from participating in local government elections and subsequently stayed away from voting.

Consequently, the City is now under the control of the historical enemies of our people.

We are deeply convinced that complete collapse of internal discipline within the ranks of our Alliances structures and movement as a whole gives strange "confidence" to anarchists and "comrades of fortune" to politically cash-in under such circumstances of vacuum of discipline.

We therefore call on all our members to distance themselves and refrain from such anarchic and chaotic planned activities. We have already activated our disciplinary processes to hold the alleged SACP "representative" in the press conference fully accountable and liable for bringing the good name of the SACP into disrepute.
