SACP Gauteng conveys its condolences to the families of Bronkhorstspruit accident victims

24 April 2017

The South African Communist Party Gauteng Province is deeply saddened by the passing of 20 people in a horrific accident outside Bronkhorstspruit, Tshwane Metropolitan Municipality.

On behalf of all communists in our province, we convey our sincere condolences to the bereaved families, to the survivors who are recuperating in hospital and their families. We call on all our members to extend a hand of solidarity and friendship to comfort the families during this difficult time.

Our province is indeed visited by a dark cloud following the horrific accident which claimed 18 young lives, who had been travelling from school and those of the driver of the minibus taxi and that of a worker.

We call on law enforcement to speedily conclude all investigations so that the families can find closure. We also call on the National Department of Transport to ensure that it employs sufficient personnel and human resource capacity to man the roads and enforce the law on our roads. This should include proper support to officials to enable them to properly execute their functions.
