SACP Gauteng Province saddened by the untimely passing on of Comrade Sipho Makama
18 April 2017
The South African Communist Party Gauteng Province is saddened by the untimely passing of Comrade Sipho Makama, one of the most exemplary and outstanding leaders of our revolutionary movement led by the African National Congress (ANC).
At the time of his death, Comrade Sipho Makama was serving as a Member of the Gauteng Provincial Legislature.
On behalf of all communists in our province, we convey our sincere condolences to his family, friends and comrades. We call on all our members to extend a hand of solidarity and friendship, to comfort the family during these trying and difficult times.
Comrade Sipho Makama died a martyr who dedicated his entire life to serving the cause of humanity, to liberate our people and improve their living conditions. We salute this combatant of our revolutionary movement for his sincerity, humility and moral integrity, and acting at all material times as the standard bearer of the founding principles of the ANC.
Comrade Sipho Makama firmly believed in the unity of our Alliance and never trivialised, undermined nor slandered any of its components.
We will remember him as a cadre who stood the test of time and against all odds prevailed against the tempting capitalist morality and culture of corruption. He will be counted amongst those who never took from or diminished the good name of the ANC nor any of its Alliance partners.
Comrade Sipho Makama never faltered on any principle, but stood firm as a revolutionary to the end.
May his soul rest in eternal peace.
