SACP Gauteng Province postpones its march planned for tomorrow

South African Communist Party Press Alert

6 April 2017

The events of this evening, as per the below press release issued by our SACP Gauteng Province, have forced the SACP to postpone its march that was scheduled to take place tomorrow in Tshwane to the National Treasury. The march will be rearranged to take place as per the details provided by our SACP Gauteng Province. This decision is important since the SACP accepts the rule of law, not the irrational and unprofessional behaviour displayed by the National Treasury.

In the same vein a different march, "The march of the people" was this evening granted a go ahead by the court of law to pr?oceed tomorrow to the Union Buildings. The SACP will support this effort and publicly present the demands it would have delivered through its momorundum to the National Treasury. Solly Mapaila, SACP 2nd Deputy General Secretary will carry out the task.

The SACP condemns the heavy handed posture of the National Police Commissioner? seeking to prevent our people from exercising democratic rights as guaranteed in our constitution. The SACP further condemns the arrogant attitude of the National Treasury, its refusal to accept our memorandum. The struggle is not over: The struggle continues!

SACP Gauteng Province postpones its march planned for tomorrow

The South African Communist Party Gauteng Province has postponed its planned march which was due to take place tomorrow (07 April 2017), but will now take place in the next two weeks.

This follows a correspondence received from the City of Tshwane declaring our march illegal based on clear directive it received from National Treasury which strangely refused to receive our memorandum of demands. Having considered all the options, we have since decided not to defy but to abide.

We are however deeply shocked by the collaboration between National Treasury and the DA controlled city of Tshwane to attack our constitutional right to march.

This will not deter us from intensifying our struggle against rampant corruption, day light theft and unashamed looting and corporate capture of the state by a parasitic network of corrupt elements.
