The SACP Gauteng Province is shocked by the tragic bus accident in which our comrades and ANC members from the Ekurhuleni region lost their lives. The fatal bus accident took place on the return trip from the rally held in Port Elizabeth to launch the ANC 2016 Local Government Elections Manifesto.

On behalf of the leadership and members of our party, we express our heartfelt condolences to families, comrades and friends of the deceased. This is a shared loss for the SACP in the Gauteng province.

We also wish those injured a speedy recovery. We thank all workers in the emergency medical and rescue services for doing all they could in saving more lives in the aftermath of the accident.

All priority should be given to comfort for the affected families. On its part the SACP structures have been activated to assist provide relief and support to families during their difficult and trying time. Our deepest sympathies are extended to our movement as a whole.
