SACP Gauteng welcomes Premier David Makhura`s State of the Province Adress (SOPA)
22 February 2016
The SACP Gauteng Province congratulates Premier David Makhura for a premium, detailed and reassuring State of the Province Address (SOPA). The SACP appreciates the fact that the overall thrust of Premier David Makhura most importantly focussed on the political economy of the province.
The SACP welcomes the announcement to launch the Provincial Economic Plan in May this year. We believe that such a Plan will play a meaningful role in outlining a strategic direction for the province`s economy.
We further believe that such a Plan will certainly add new impetus to the ANC and Alliance`s revolutionary perspective of a more radical second phase of the National Democratic Revolution.
Our party is certain that the Plan will concretely outline the role of the province of Gauteng Province to the realization of the objectives and vision of the province for Transformation, Modernisation and Re-industrialization (TMR) and those of the National Development Plan (NDP).
The SACP is looking forward to the consultation process and we hope that the working class will have the opportunity to make a profound contribution to developing the final content of the Plan. Such a Plan will further clarify and give more practical meaning to the ground-breaking concept of `Township Economy`.
The SACP appreciates and congratulate Premier David Makhura`s principled and revolutionary commitment to rid Gauteng province of the scourge of corruption and the reactionary tendency of corporate capture.
We call on the Provincial Government to intensify its revolutionary outlook as a well functioning activist state that is rooted amongst the people. The SACP hopes that government will sustain the momentum created through the introduction of a popular and dynamic state mechanism of Nthirishano Service Delivery War Room.
The vanguard party of the working class welcomes the commitment of the Premier to create technical state capacity to deliver on commitments made to change living conditions of the people. We believe creating such technical state capacity is consistent with the revolutionary concept adopted by the entire Alliance of a developmental state that is efficient and effective.
