SACP Free State Province congratulates SANCO for holding a provincial congress and COSATU for its Provincial Shop Steward Council

20 February 2016

The South African Communist Party (SACP) in the province of Free State congratulates the South African National Civic Organisation (SANCO) and the Congress of South African Trade Unions (COSATU) for holding, respectively, a provincial congress and shop steward council. Both this allies of the SACP held their meetings on 20 February 2016 with Sanco concluding on 21 February 2016 and electing new a new provincial executive committee led by comrades Lucky Photo as Provincial Chairperson and Bakoena Ramosie as Provincial Secretary.

The SACP will continue working together with SANCO to address the challenges faced by communities and COSATU in tackling the problem of economic exploitation faced by the working class. As the SACP we believe that our strategic alliance with both organisations and the African National Congress (ANC) remains the most suitable political formation capable of leading the South African society towards the realisation of the goals of the Freedom Charter. The Freedom Charter is our shared programme of transformation. As the SACP we believe that the achievement of its goals will lay the indispensable basis for advancing to socialism.

The SACP is calling on all our alliance partners to close ranks and unite in the face of increasing challenges facing the economy of our country and affecting our province as Free State. As the SACP, we will advance to the front to unite the working class, our movement and communities behind the imperative of placing our democratic transition on to a second, more radical phase to resolve the class, race and gender contradictions faced by our people, in particular the problems of social inequality, unemployment and poverty.

South Africa has massive resources and produces sufficient wealth to look after the whole of our population. The problem is that a few individuals, the capitalist class and elitist groupings appropriate the lion`s share of national output on the basis of exploitating the majority - who have been thrown out of employment through retrenchment or are unemployed, casualised or are in permanent temporary jobs or work for labour brokers.
