SACP Gauteng welcomes Premier David Makhura State of the Province Address
27 June 2014
The SACP Gauteng Province welcomes the State Of the Province Address by the Premier of Gauteng Comrade David Makhura.
We deeply commend his leadership for the unprecedented move in holding this event in the working class community of Thokoza.
This is in line with the SACP`s call to take government and its services to the people, to maintain deep contact with the masses over policy trajectory and to explain government work and its challenges. This attitude will create an overwhelming positive mobilisation in support of progressive government work by our people. It will further reorient government focus towards defeating the deep seated sense of alienation of communities. The SACP and our movement have always sought to locate popular participation by our people as the centre of gravity for the functioning of the democratic developmental state.
We furthermore welcome and congratulate the Premier for the content of his address. We believe that it is the basis of the provincial government political program and is compatible with the broader movement`s emphasis on the radical phase of transformation in the National Democratic Revolution.
A principled adherence to the key tenets outlined in this political strategy will likely set the province in a correct footing and contribute in dismantling the vestiges of colonialism of a special type.
In this regard, the SACP is highly appreciative that the speech is a precise elaboration of the key, fundamental political and socio-economic tasks facing the provincial government in Gauteng and what is to be done.
As the SACP, we are firmly in support of government work outlined by the Premier and in building a mass based popular momentum for the second radical phase of the National Democratic Revolution.
