SACP in Mpumalanga on distortions of its Tuesday, 26 November 2013 statement

29 November 2013

The South African Communist Party (SACP) in Mpumalanga Province has noted utter disgust attempts through media reports to deliberately distort facts on our press conference.

The reporting of Tuesday, 26 November press briefing was distorted by the bourgeoisie media which is interested in making profit, among others by portraying divisions within the alliance knowing such will drive sales. The SACP on record said that there are elements within the movement who conformed to be lumpen tenderprenuers, their interest being to loot state resources. The SACP never said the ANC is corrupt.

The SACP in the province made a call to the Minister of Police to release the report on political killings in the province, so as we can know who is either the catalyst or the perpetrator. However, we saw unfortunate attempts by the media to portray us as if we said the ANC is responsible. It was very unfortunate for the ANC to even interpret the statement in that manner, without consulting us.

We stand by our calls for the report to be released. This is completely different from saying the ANC is responsible something we will never say because that will not happen of our reliable ally. We would like to reiterate our stand that there are lumpen tenderprenuers who do not care about the plight of the masses. The ANC does not constitute these counter-revolutionary forces. On the contrary, the activities and essence of these forces is completely opposed to the historic mission of the ANC.

We warn the South African Media not to fall into an attempt to be used by imperialists or those lumpen tenderprenuers or other negatively charged forces who survive through divisions within the alliance. Media reporting should be balanced, fair, objective, accurate and informed by the facts on what our statements articulate, rather than what journalists are influenced to think.
