SACP Gauteng to deliver a decisive ANC electoral victory in the 2014 National Elections
10 June 2013
SACP Gauteng held a Provincial Executive Committee (PEC) meeting in the District of Sedibeng, Evaton on the 08th-9th June 2013. Meeting in Sedibeng is part of PEC decision to hold its PEC meetings in working class areas such as townships and informal settlements in Districts of the Party within the province. PEC started by visiting residents of Kwamaziza hostel in Sebokeng, who are living under extremely inhumane conditions. PEC will engage relevant authorities on the plight of this community.
Meeting was addressed by a member of the 13th National Congress Central Committee, comrade Madala Masuku. PEC received message of support from Alliance partners represented by the Deputy Provincial Chairperson of the ANC, cde Gwen Ramokgopa and Deputy Provincial Chairperson of Cosatu, cde Meisie Sekaleng. PEC was welcomed by the ANC Regional Chairperson and Mayor of Sedibeng District, comrade Simon Mofokeng.
PEC was also addressed by the Ambassador of the Democratic People`s Republic of Korea (DPRK) His Excellency comrade Jo Yong Man, who shared with the PEC the history of the Korean revolution, its current contradictions in the fight against US Imperialism and the South Korean puppet regime. Comrade Jo Yong Man also invited the PEC to work with the Embassy to jointly celebrate the 50th Anniversary marking DPRK`s independence on the 27th July 2013.
Following the outcomes of the 13th National Congress Central Committee (CC) held last week, PEC made an analysis of the world and local class balance of forces, and noted that contradictions of the crisis of Imperialism continue to pose a challenge to the National Democratic Revolution (NDR) which is the shared and common strategic perspective of the ANC led Alliance.
PEC appreciated progress made by our country to build a united, non-racial, non-sexist, and prosperous society as a critical building block towards a future socialist society.
PEC welcomed the message by the collective leadership of our country led by President Jacob Zuma that our country compared to many in the world is doing very well. This we say fully aware that there are isolated cases that continue to pose a challenge to our country but are receiving attention.
PEC strongly condemned forces that more often break ranks by propagating false and malicious negative messages that suggest that our country has a "leadership crisis", especially following the depreciation of the rand, and data showing that the economy performed far below estimated growth rate in the last quarter.
PEC reminded these peddlers of negative sentiment and pessimism that in December 2001, the rand depreciated to almost R13, 80 to the dollar prompting the 1996 Class Project to appoint the Myburgh Commission to investigate factors behind the rand`s dramatic depreciation.
PEC also affirmed the scientific truth that the crisis in our country is not about perceived "lack of leadership", but due to combined and dialectical effect of the three factors, namely, the legacy of colonialism of more than 300 years, the 1996 austerity measures contained in GEAR macro-economic policy and the current world economic crisis.
PEC reaffirmed the view that the severity of these three factors on the economy of our country should not be personalised nor blame placed on the shoulders of any person regardless of our subjective attitudes about the person.
PEC firmly believe that the tendency to scapegoat, isolate and find the devil on matters of society as whole is not consistent with values and ideals of a civilised and advanced society, but is consistent with barbarism and backwardness.
It is in this context that the PEC resolved to mobilise the Red Brigade as our campaign and mobilisation force to ensure that we defend our country against imperialism and monopoly capital by delivering a decisive election victory for the African National Congress during the forthcoming 2014 national elections.
PEC is confident that the working class in our country and province will through a democratic process of national elections reject attempts to turn our country yet again into a semi-colony serving the class interests of imperialism and monopoly capital, domestic and international be it black or white.
PEC DISTANCES SACP FROM MAIL AND GUARDIAN ARTICLE INSINUATING SACP SEEKS PURGE OF ANC PEC
PEC strongly condemned unfounded and wild allegations peddled by the Mail and Guardian in its article issued on the 7th June 2013. The article desperately seeks to suggest that the SACP harbours intentions to purge the current democratically elected PEC of our most trusted and historic primary political ally, the ANC. This self-invented falsehood of the Mail and Guardian claims that the purge follows ANC PEC`s decision not to support President Jacob Zuma during the 53rd ANC National Conference held in Mangaung in December 2012.
PEC rejected this malicious and slanderous claims by the Mail and Guardian certainly seeking to drive a wedge between these two important formations of our people and working class. PEC reaffirmed historic principles of our Alliance, especially those of respect of the independence and autonomy of Alliance partners, and non-interference in each other`s internal processes. PEC resolved to ensure that the planned bilateral meeting with the ANC takes place soon.
PEC also resolved to hold an urgent bilateral meeting with Cosatu as part of strengthening relations between these two class formations. SACP will also engage Cosatu on the NDR, labour brokers, E-Tolls, national elections plans, political and ideological work amongst many issues. PEC resolved to convene a Provincial Socialist Forum in partnership with Cosatu, and to convene such in Districts. PEC also agreed to strengthen relations with SANCO.
SACP CALLS FOR A CONSISTENT PROGRAMME TO FIGHT LEGACY OF APARTHEID STATE VIOLENCE
PEC extensively analysed the current wave of violence affecting many working class communities within the province, especially working class areas. In line with SACP five year political programme, the SA Road to Socialism (SARS), PEC analysed the historic material factors that account for the current violent and criminal acts directed mainly against women, children and foreign nationals.
PEC came to the conclusion that many years of Apartheid state violence that permeated various sectors of our society to defend white minority rule and its class interests contributed significantly to the violent culture we see in many of our communities. This legacy of Apartheid violence, is more often used by criminals, backward and lumpen forces against perceived soft targets such as foreigners, women and children.
SACP will as part of the way forward, engage its structures and Alliance partners to educate communities about the legacy and culture of Apartheid state violence. As part of this intervention, SACP will promote more progressive traditions and practices of social dialogue, negotiations and respect for humanity irrespective of their social origin, race, gender, class and age. This are traditions and values our movement cherished throughout the history of our revolutionary struggle, leading to the negotiated settlement of April 1994.
PROTEST MARCH TO THE AMERICAN EMBASSY DURING PRESIDENT OBAMA`S VISIT TO SA CALLING FOR THE RELEASE OF THE CUBAN FIVE AND LIFTING OF EMBARGO AGAINST CUBA.
PEC noted USA President Obama`s planned visit to our country and continent towards the end of June. PEC resolved to mobilise its structures and Alliance partners to stage a protest march to the American Embassy in Tshwane to present a memorandum of demands calling for the urgent release of the Cuban Five revolutionaries currently detained in USA prison and for the lifting of the inhuman economic blockade against Cuba.
PEC wished former President Nelson Mandela, our stalwart and icon of our broad democratic movement and country a speedy recovery and good health.
