SACP Gauteng strongly condemns criminal attacks against foreigners

28 May 2013

SACP Gauteng Provincial Executive Committee statement

SACP Gauteng Province strongly condemns the new wave of violent criminal attacks against foreigners, especially Somali owned businesses in various parts of Gauteng province. We are deeply shocked and dismayed by the level of violence and hatred displayed by certain sections of our communities intownships such as Evaton, Sebokeng, Orange Farm and Diepsloot.

SACP calls upon our communities, activists and leaders of fraternal and revolutionary movements to intervene decisively in the affected communities, and work in partnership with law enforcement agencies to ensure that these barbaric, extremely backward and inhuman acts are brought to an immediate end. We also call on law enforcement agencies to ensure that those responsible for this acts are held criminally liable.

SACP firmly believe that only through united and firm action by communities and organs of the state we can successfully isolate and defeat these criminal elements. We believe that such united action and community activism should reaffirm and defend the world renowned values and principles enshrined in our country’s constitution founded on progressive internationalism and love for humanity irrespective of place of origin, race, gender and class.

SACP will work closely with our Alliance partners and mass democratic movement structures on the ground to ensure that we defeat any criminal tendency that seeks to undermine our hard worn democratic gains that were achieved as a direct result of united international struggle and solidarity by the entire world working class and revolutionary movement.
