SACP Mpumalanga media statement
29 April 2013
The SACP Mpumalanga held a successful Provincial Executive Committee meeting held in Mbombela on 28 April 2013 to assess and outline its programme and Campaigns. As part of our revolutionary task to give political direction as the vanguard in the Province, the following underlying factors characterised the meeting:
1. State of the Municipalities
- We have observed the state of municipalities in the Province also briefed by the ANC’s Provincial Lekgotla of the 7 Municipalities that need intervention:
- Pixley ka Isaka Seme Local Municipality
- Mbombela Local Municipality
- Msukaligwa Local Municipality
- Emalahleni Local Municipality
- Lekwa Local Municipality
- Bushbuckridge Local Municipality
- Thaba Chweu Local Municipality
- We have further observed the intervention by COGTA to put Bushbuckridge Local Municipality and Emalahleni Local Municipality under administration.
- We believe that based on the strategic nature of Municipalities in so far as service delivery is concerned, we need to intervene consistently in all Municipalities.
- Those municipalities which got disclaimers must be subjected to forensic audits, hence we believe that even the Nkomazi Local Municipality need attention.
2. Removal of the Speaker of Ehlanzeni District Municipality
- We believe that Speaker of Ehlanzeni District Municipality was unfairly removed from his position because that was done on the basis of uncorroborated allegations.
- We are convinced that it was due to factional reasons, the principle of being innocent until proven guilty was not respected in this matter.
- We are once more appealing to ANC leadership to re-instate him without any further delay.
3. Killings in the Province and the dropping of related charges.
- We have noted with shock and disbelief the withdrawal of cases relating to the cold blooded murder of Comrade Jimmy Mohlala and Bomber Ntshangase, both members of the SACP.
- We are calling on the National Government to intervene in investigating the conduct of Police and the Judiciary in the Province.
- Murder of Political activists must come to an end, we can no longer live with fear of being killed with impunity in the Country and Province of our birth.
4. Victimisation of SACP members due to raising matter of corruption
- It has come to our realisation, that members and leaders of the SACP are targeted, we are convinced that, this is due to our National Campaign against corruption.
- We wish to reiterate our stand on fighting against corruption, we will not be intimidated by anyone.
5. Way-forward
- The PEC held on the 28th April 2013, at Mbombela resolved that:
- There should be a programme of mass mobilization against corruption and all these foreign tendencies.
- We must appeal to the National Leadership intervention as far as possible.
- We are again going to raise these in the bilateral with the ANC, scheduled for the 06th May 2013.
6. Conclusion
- We think that there is a serious kliptocracy in Mpumalanga, we are tired of living in fear of being murdered with impunity.
