SACP Eastern Cape press statement on the article published by the Daily Dispatch
2 August 2012
The South African Communist Party (SACP) in the Eastern Cape Province notes with great apprehension the continuous oppositionist and anti-communist agenda of some of the media houses in particular the Daily Dispatch.
The Daily Dispatch published an article on the 02 August 2012 of an alleged manipulation of the ANC lists in favor of the SACP and yet admits that people like Sindiswa Gomba and John Badenhorst whom are not members of the SACP were also moved up the list but Young Communist League (YCL) leader, Cde Zolani Ndlela was moved down the list. The report is written with an anti SACP slant in order to tarnish the SACP image. The worst part is for the reporter soliciting comments from everyone else but not the SACP however continue with the narrow minded article.
This kind of gutter journalism goes against key principle as founded by the Deputy Press Ombudsman on a matter between our General Secretary, Cde Blade Nzimande and the Sowetan: The principle of fair, accurate and balanced reporting based on facts. As the SACP, in our 91 years of existence we have seen and been on the receiving end of all sorts of anticommunists agenda and we have exposed all of those and committed ourselves to fight and expose them.
We recommit ourselves as the SACP to fight and expose the current Daily Dispatch agenda which seeks to musk the real reasons for challenges facing society today, the system of capitalism which breeds corruption, greed and dog eat dog morality. We condemn this article and reject it as false and absolute fallacy that is aimed at tarnishing the image of the SACP and further defocus us in taking the responsibility of the National Democratic Revolution. We are calling upon the Daily Dispatch and other media houses to refrain from this conflict hungry, oppositionist and factional reporting as this is taking people for granted.
We demand an apology from the Daily Dispatch and it must further apologies to the people as a whole for misinforming them.
