SACP Mpumalanga PEC Media statement

SACP Mpumalanga PEC Media statement

7 May 2012

The SACP Provincial Executive Committee in Mpumalanga met to receive and process reports that contained the state of the organisation and the political status of our province. Key to these reports was the state of health of our structures, their capacity to continue to be the centres of political struggles within our communities and their readiness for the upcoming National and Provincial congresses.

The PEC noted the growing strength and support of the Party amongst organised workers as indicated by their growing participation in Party programmes and campaigns. This view is further strengthened by the successful hosting of the Chris Hani commemorations throughout our districts supported by COSATU and its affiliates and the hugely successful MAY DAY rallies in Gert Sibande and Harold Molobela districts.

The PEC further re-stated their commitment to continue to fight against the epidemic of corruption in the Province, as part of strengthening the capacity of government to provide a clean administration, whose objective will be to put the interest of our people first. The PEC believes this objective could be achieved by reversing the tenderisation of the state and the building of internal capacity of the state to provide the services on its own.

The PEC has further called on all the cadres and activists of our revolutionary alliance movement to rise in defence of our structures against lumpen politician, whose main objective is to capture our movement for personal material benefit at the expense of a thorough going transformation which should be benefiting the majority of our struggling people. These dark forces are hoping to use the forth coming congresses of our alliance as a launching pad for their devious political plans and we believe the progressive forces will triumph and continue with the people’s revolution to bring about a just and equitable society free from exploitation and oppression of our people by the beneficiaries of colonialism and apartheid.

The PEC believes that the forth coming policy conference of the ANC is historic in the sense that it comes during an important time of our revolution when the world, in particular Latin America, the state is re-structuring key sectors of the economy in order to create quality jobs and reduce unemployment and inequality. We call on the ANC to continue to strengthen the role of the state in leading the transformation of the inherited apartheid capitalist economy and create a people centred and people led economy.

The PEC calls on all members of our alliance in memory of leaders like OR Tambo, Moses Mabhida, Moses Malome Kotane, Govan Mbeki, Joe Slovo and Chris Hani to use the upcoming congresses to restore the values, norms and culture which made our revolutionary movement to be the moral and political campus of our people.
