SACP Gauteng Province prepares for Congress

13 March 2012

The SACP Gauteng Provincial Executive Committee (PEC) resolved at its meeting on the 10th -11th March 2012, that it was ready to hold its Provincial Congress scheduled for the 23rd – 25th March 2012 in Ekurhuleni (Lake Hotel, Benoni).

As part of the preparations for the Provincial Congress, the province presided over four successful District Congresses, which were held between October 2011 and the 4th and 18th February 2012 respectively.

Guided by the SACP political programme, the South African Road to Socialism (SARS), the PEC meeting discussed the Political Report to the Congress. It also discussed Discussion Documents for the Congress Commissions listed below:

The SACP’s Medium Term Vision as it applies to the Gauteng Province.

  • Party Building, Alliance and Fundraising
  • Constitutional Amendments
  • Gender theory and practice in the Party

All the SACP Districts will convene District Councils on the 17th- 18th March 2012 to discuss all the political issues on the agenda of Congress and to finalise nominations for the PEC.

The PEC finally congratulated the leadership that emerged from recent district congresses and wished them well for the term of their office.

Members of the media are therefore invited to cover all the open sessions of the congress.
