SACP Gauteng Statement on the recent Tornado incident in Duduza
7 October 2011
The SACP Gauteng Province sympathizes with the families whose houses became distracted by the stormy weather during the weekend in Duduza near Nigel. We are further saddened by the death of an eight year toddler during this incident. We want to commend the prompt response by the Gauteng Provincial Government in providing the affected families with alternative shelter and the relevant emergency relief packages.
The Solidarity and unity demonstrated by neighbours and fellow South Africans during this moment of need is commendable. The SACP in the province will continue to support the families morally and also mobilise all community structures to continue providing help to the affected families. We finally extend our sincere condolences to the family of the eight year old who has passed on and may his soul rest in peace.
