SACP Eastern Cape Province 6th Congress Preview press stamenent

2 October 2011

The SACP in the Eastern Cape Province will convene its 6th Provincial Congress from the 7th – 9th October 2011 in East London City Hall with more than 700 voting delegates from the 8 districts of our Party across the province. The congress will be addressed by the SACP General Secretary Dr Blade Nzimande who will cover among other things the international, national situations and the task of the Party and the working class. The congress will focus on evaluating the period post our 5th Congress and consider successes and weaknesses of the organization as part of preparing for our 13th national congress in 2012.

Congress will gather under the theme: "Communists Call for a transition to a socialist order!" This call is rooted on the ideological understanding that the crisis of capitalism has placed the entire humanity to a brink of catastrophe which makes the desirability of a new world order a reality impossible to escape let alone deny. This include the need to ensure that the National Democratic Revolution (NDR) in our country assume its inherent radical posture and place our country on a transition to a socialist future as the only route capable of dealing with many socio-economic challenges facing our country.
