SACP Mpumalanga media statement

8 February 2011

The Provincial Executive Committee of the SACP met in their first meeting of the year to receive the Political Organizational Report and chart a programme of action for 2011. As this is Local Elections year the PEC also receive a report detailing all the process that has taken place and pledge its support to the ANC led –alliance needs to continue with the transformation of Local government in Our Country and in general our Province in particular.

The political report highlighted a number of important issues, key to which were the economic transformation intervention through the growth path, which the PEC believes that the discussion should continue where disagreements still exist, whilst implementation should continue where agreements still exist. The successful implementation of the growth path will be based necessarily on its ability to create quality decent jobs, reduce significantly the growing inequality and finally eradicates the apartheid fault line, which continues to exclude the majority of the working people from meaningful participation in the economy.

The PEC further resolved that the forth coming Local Government should be a catalyst in restoring the confidence of our people in this important hemisphere of government. The PEC call on National and Provincial government to give sufficient attention to assist Local Government with necessary technically skills and invest significant resources in order to ensure that municipalities are able to carry out the Constitutional responsibilities to their respective Constituencies. The service delivery protests that took place recently was an indication that concerted efforts by all Stakeholder is important if democracy is to thrive in Our Province.

The PEC welcomed the intervention by the National Commissioner of Police in the Province to investigate the political murder that seems to be a way of life in our Province We call on the National Commissioner to link these investigations to an ongoing corruption in our province. We believe the reasons for this kills are primary to silence anyone who dire try to expose corruption in some of the tendering processes in Our Province. We hope that the real people behind this kills are not only the hired gunman will be exposed and sent to jail for their heinous and barbaric acts.

The PEC is encouraged by the people`s revolution in North Africa, this is an important demonstration of the slogan the people shall govern and with the feet they march against tyranny and despotic leaders, who`s main objective is to serve their personal interest and their imperialist handlers. We call on all our brothers and sisters throughout the Continent to rise against dictators like Mugabe, Nguema etc and bring about people`s democracy.

The PEC further call on all the people of Mpumalanga to go on large numbers and vote for the ANC led-alliance in the fourth coming Municipal Election in order to strengthen democracy and build the better life, together with our Revolutionary Movement.
