Free State Alliance Media Statement of the Killing of Comrade Noby Ngombane
Wednesday, 23 March 2005
The Tripartite Alliance in the Free State learnt with great shock and pain about the untimely death of a young South African revolutionary, Comrade Noby Ngombane.
At around 21,00 on Tuesday 22 March, Comrade Noby Ngombane, former convenor of the interim leadership core established by the ANC NEC in 2000-2002, and Policy Coordinator in the Premier’s office in the Free State, was shot and killed in his home in Bloemfontein.
The killing of Comrade Noby Nombane comes at a time when our province is faced with challenges in local government and his unit was busy developing strategies to ensure service delivery in this sphere of government.
The Alliance has no doubt that those responsible for Comrade Ngombane’s death will be brought to book. We have every trust and confidence in the security apparatus of the democratic state to solve this tragic problem as soon as possible.
The Alliance dips its banners in respectful homage to Comrade Noby Ngombane, a man who dedicated his entire adult life to the struggle for democracy and freedom in South Africa - a former student politics leader who served both the ANC and SACP with distinction, great courage and unswerving loyalty.
We of the Alliance are dipping our Banner and shall pick up the spear of Comrade Noby Ngombane and surge forward to advance the national democratic revolution.
To the Ngombane family, the Alliance states that your pain is our pain. You are not alone in this tragedy. We are one family. Comrade Noby’s blood shall further unite the democratic forces in this province. Be strong, we are together!
