Dear Comrade General Secretary of the South African Communist Party, Comrade
Blade Nzimande

 

I am greatly honoured to receive the Moses
Kotane Peace Award, at the 11th Congress on 27 July 2002.

 

I worked with Moses Kotane from 1931. We
built the Party from this time onwards and when the Party became illegal,
we continued to work under illegal conditions.

 

To my great regret it is not possible for
me to attend the award-giving ceremony at the Congress. Please accept my
sincere regret for my absence.
