SACP Western Cape statement on the factional cabinet reshuffle
17 October 2017
The SACP in the Western Cape condemns factional and vindictive targeting and removal of our General Secretary, Blade Nzimande, by the errant fugitive of justice, President Zuma, announced today. To us, this latest blunder by Zuma further confirms that he is incapable of exercising political and executive authority in a rational manner befitting of a President and leader of the Alliance.
Once again, Zuma displayed his contempt for the leadership collective of the ANC and the broader Alliance by removing a senior leader in the Alliance without following established protocols. Further, to our dismay, the successive cabinet changes fail to remove under-performing scandal prone and corrupt ministers who are effectively the enemies of the revolution, South Africa and her people.
Zuma uses the power to appoint cabinet as a tool to advance his uncontrollable crass corruption and self-enrichment and therefore all those who are principled critics opposed to his parasitic corruption and insatiable greed are purged. The removal of Dr Nzimande cannot be viewed in isolation from the purging of Gordhan, Hannekom, Jonas amongst others.
The attack on Nzimande is part of a calculated project of collapsing the state and the revolution and galvanizing the shadow state orchestrated by the Gupta family. Notably, Zuma placed his henchmen at the helm of energy in order to push once again the much-maligned nuclear deal against the order of the court and longstanding position of the ANC. These actions are part of auctioning our national sovereignty to the highest bidder.
As the SACP we cannot be intimidated into submission by such desperate actions from this errant constitutional delinquent. We will continue our fight against corruption, state capture and violation of the supreme law of the land. Hence we reiterate our call that Zuma must resign or be removed by the ANC and accordingly will continue to mobilize the working class, organized labour and civil society to ensure that the ANC heeds this call.
Lastly, acts of intimidation and threats to the SACP leadership will be met with a full display of the SACP's prowess, be it on the streets, in our communities or in the workplace - we will not be deterred from our vanguard role of defending, advancing and deepening the National Democratic Revolution!
