SACP supports Izwilabantu Forum national march to the Union Buildings

Thursday, 22 January 2026:- The South African Communist Party (SACP) supports Izwilabantu Forum’s march to the Union Buildings on 29 January 2026.

Composed of and representing black farmers in their social and economic struggles, Izwilabantu Forum is pursuing struggles for justice in spaces of land ownership, small scale agriculture and land rights. The struggle of small-scale farmers, who are often black and disadvantaged, is closely associated with the broader economic and political struggle of the working class, characterised by land and resource shortages.

By contrast, the lager landowning commercial class of farmers own land in abundance and have ties to the monopoly finance industry and its attendant resource base. This disjuncture is the basis for economic inequality and continued subjugation of small-scale farmers.

The SACP aligns itself with a struggle to change this paradigm and establish independence for black farmers and local communities connected to these farmers.

The SACP supports the call of Izwilabantu Forum for accelerated land redistribution and provision of title deeds for acquired property or land, debt relief for black farmers, protection and security for livestock and fight against stock theft, fight against farm murders and support for home gardens and household food security. These demands of Izwilabantu Forum are aligned with the longstanding programme of the SACP on land transformation and local economic development rooted in food production and food security. The SACP’s People’s Red Caravan programme shares similar principles with the struggles of Izwilabantu Forum and the farmers it represents.

The SACP calls for all progressives to join the march and support the farmers’ struggles. We pledge our participation as the Party and maintain strong relations with these key forces going forward.
