SACP sends heartfelt condolences to the family of Comrade Abbey Makoane Motsiri and Dr Thandi Ndlovu

26 August 2019

The South African Communist Party (SACP) sends its heartfelt condolences to the family of Comrade Abbey Makoane Motsiri who died on Saturday 24 August 2019 on the way to a funeral in Rustenburg. He was a driver for Dr Thandi Ndlovu, who also died in the same accident, and to whose family the SACP sends its heartfelt condolences. Dr Ndlovu was a former member of uMkhonto weSizwe.

Comrade Abbey leaves behind his wife Nomathamsanqa, daughter Tshepiso and his two sons Philani and Siyanda, as well as his mother and siblings.

He contributed to the SACP and the Alliance through his safety and security services, including extending himself even beyond the call of duty. To his death he remained loyal to the Alliance and never moved an inch away from serving the people in the struggle for social emancipation. A perfectionist in his work, Comrade Abbey was well known for his strict approach to safety and security services.

In honour of Comrade Abbey, the SACP calls for the deepening of unity within the democratic movement, and for the building of a popular front of working class and progressive forces to advance, deepen and defend our democracy and our national sovereignty. This will be in line with the intensification of the national democratic revolution, for the emancipation of all.
