SACP Northern Cape Province condemns violence and brutality against women and children
29 November 2013
The South African Communist Party (SACP) in the Northern Cape Province is extremely saddened and ashamed by the latest inhuman acts and violence perpetrated against women and children in the province.
The brutal raping and killing of an old women (granny) early this week, which was followed by the raping of a six week old baby girl (both in Galeshewe) allegedly by his uncle, make us very sick and worried about the society we live in today.
The SACP jointly with the community of Galeshewe will work together to fight the scourge of violence against women and children in our communities. We will defend the safety of our families and communities.
We will intensify our Know Your Neighbourhood Campaign and the Street Committee Campaign in defending our communities.
We take this opportunity to applaud our brothers and sisters in blue The Police on the quick apprehension of the perpetrators. We appeal to the National Prosecuting Authority to speedily get to the conclusion of these matters to ensure that justice is served.
Meanwhile, the SACP would also like to take this opportunity to congratulate the ANC on its overwhelming victory and retaining of the two wards in Galeshewe and Olifantshoek. This should provide and impetus in fighting against the scourge of abuses taking place in communities over and above being a good barometer to test the state of readiness of the ANC and to measure the effectiveness its elections machinery for next years elections.
