Introduction
The SACP in the province convened its 8th plenary session of the 3rd Provincial Congress PEC meeting which was convened on the 18 - 19 February 2011 in Kimberley and was attended by PEC members and district secretaries and chairpersons. This important meeting received the political and organizational reports. The political report was dedicated to the memory of our late provincial treasurer Cde Lesego Manyetsa who tragically lost her life in a car accident early this month.
SACP ninety (90th) celebrations
As part of celebrating the 90 years anniversary of the unbroken struggle of the SACP we will be embarking in a vigorous political education in a form of commemorative activities/lectures in recognition of our local/national and international martyrs i.e. Sipho Mgijima, Basil February, Chester Makame, Lesego Manyetsa, Zodwa Bekebeke, Chris Hani and Joe Slovo just to mention a few.
On building the Organization
The SACP has declared 2011 the year of congresses as we will be convening five (5) district congress and the 4th provincial congress later this year. The meeting further resolved to heighten the mass mobilization work that we have been doing all this years and intensify our fight against crime and corruption by establishing fully functional coalition committees against corruption.
The meeting further welcomed the ultimate decision by government and the ANC youth league to finally join us (SACP and YCL) in our plight to fight for free sanitary towels for the disadvantaged poor working class young women.
International Solidarity
The meeting resolved to intensify its solidarity work and noted the spontaneous revolt by the ordinary people in the North Africa and the Middle East. The Party will intensify its international solidarity work calling for sanctions against the Palestine, Western Sahawarian people and Swaziland who are subjected to extreme human rights violation, murder, rape and imprisonment.
Local Government Elections
The meeting received a detailed update report on the local government elections and the meeting resolved to reiterate its decision to support and ensure that the ANC wins this elections with the overwhelm majority.
