SACP Mpumalanga PWC Statement
23 March 2017
The SACP in Mpumalanga province convened its provincial working committee meeting on the 21st March 2017 at eMalahleni. The meeting dealt with political developments domestically and globally.
The meeting took place whilst the country was celebrating and commemorating human rights day. Whilst we commemorate this day, we remember that our freedom is not complete till the freedom of Palestine, Western Sahara, Swaziland and other oppressed nations.
The collapse of the security cluster:
It has been our long held view that the country`s sovereignty and security is under threat with such a weak and incapacitated ministry of intelligence. Most of our national key points have been undermined and trembled upon with no key intervention from the Minister David Mahlobo. The landing of the Guptas in Waterkloof base, burning of schools in Vuwani, stolen millions at OR Tambo International Airport and the burglary at Chief Justice` offices is just a sign of how weak is this ministry and incapacity to defend the country.
We welcome the high court ruling on the appointment of Hawks head, Berning Ntlemeza.
State of government entities:
The SACP is highly worried by the systematic collapse of our state owned entities. Most of these entities are headed by acting personnel and there is no political will to address all these challenges. The collapse of good corporate governance in the SABC, PRASA, SAA, etc. just lack of political leadership we have in the country. Failure to deal with these challenges facing our country, we run a risk of turning the a banana republic.
We welcome the court ruling the SASSA issue however very concerned on how the Minister of Social Development handled the matter.
The debacle seems to be a well-calculated crisis intended on holding the country at ransom.
We are of the view that the crisis was a deliberate move in order to afford the dubious Cash Paymaster Services (CPS) an extended contract because of some corrupt activities and corporate capture of the entity.
We reiterate our call that the state must capacitate itself by empowering the Post Bank as a state owned bank to handle the social grants rather than relying on private companies advancing monopoly capital`s agenda.
As part of our financial sector campaign and advancing the interests of the working class, the Party in the province will deploy its leaders to the pay points across the province from the 01st April 2017.
Towards the 14th National Congress:
The Party will convene red imbizos as part of engaging our structures and the society at large to deal with our agenda for the Party and Popular Power. We will then convene district councils to consolidate our contribution to the National Congress coupled with our congress decision for the Party to contest elections through a ballot come 2019.
