SACP Mpumalanga province media statement
16 July 2013
The SACP in Mpumalanga province met in its 3rd Plenary Session of the 08th Congress PEC meeting on the 14th July 2013 to engage in contemporary socio-political issues that are part and parcel of our developmental agenda to bring about a better country and particularly a developing and prosperous province.
The PEC would like to wish our revolutionary icon and the former chief commander of Umkhonto we Sizwe and political prisoner of conscious Dr Nelson Mandela a speedy recovery from his present illness and call upon all the people of Mpumalanga province to honour this gallant fighter of our revolutionary struggle against colonialism and apartheid, to be defending his beloved ANC against external and internal forces bend on undermining our quest to build a national democratic society based on social justice for all.
The PEC call on the people of Mpumalanga to continue celebrating the legacy of the founding father of our democracy by ensuring that they reject the political opportunism displaced by individuals like Mamphele Ramphele and Julius Malema.
Whose entry into politics has nothing to do with the struggles of our people for socio-economic emancipation and the destruction of the legacy of our colonial history, but informed by political arrogance which can only serve to perpetuate the prevailing economic status quo and undermine the progress made by our revolutionary alliance led by the ANC.
The PEC note with concern the continuing economic inequality and the lack of transformation of the edifice of colonial and apartheid economic foundation that is stubbornly resisting change as the biggest threat to our democracy and call on our government to confront white monopoly capital which is the main blockade towards a just and equitable democratic society we a striving to build for our future generation.
The PEC further noted with alarm and serious concern the behaviour of the AbaThembu King Buyelekhaya Dalinyebo on his unwarranted personal attacks to the State President, and his dangerous tribalism tendencies which defies our founding principle of building a non-racial and democratic society based on mutual respect for all, we therefore support CONTRALESA`s call for the respect of the office of the President and the right to dignity of the person of cde JZ.
The PEC support and applaud the recent re-shuffling of his cabinet as part of the acceleration of service delivery and ensuring that he bring to attention to our deployees in government that deployment is not an entitlement but a responsibility that should be taken seriously by all cadres deployed by the ANC led alliance.
The PEC believe that, the basis of poverty and inequality in our country is the continuing ownership of most of our productive land by a few white farmers, who are still treating our people in a barbaric way, including to deny them burial right to their loved ones.
We call on our government to fast track the transfer of our ancestral land to its rightful owners as part of the healing process of our savage history of colonialism and apartheid.
The PEC call on the Minister of police to root out the bad apples in the police service like those who are raping our kids and those who are colluding with criminal gangs in order to maintain the confident that our people are having in the performance of this important instrument against crime in our country.
The PEC noted with concern the criminalisation of poor people and their eviction from house and flats in the middle of winter due to the economic conditions that are not of their making, we call on our municipalities and government departments to treat our people with respect and apply the Batho Pele principle when giving them services.
The PEC further noted with concern the overthrow for former president of Egypt, Mohamed Morsi which was in violation of the provisions of the Egyptian Constitution, we therefore call on the AU to intervene so as there will be peace and stability for the people of Egypt and the continent.
The PEC call on the people of Mpumalanga to support our march against corruption on the 26th of July 2013 in Mbombela as part of rooting out corruption in our province.
