SACP Mpumalanga Province media statement

18 October 2011

1. Introduction

The SACP Mpumalanga Provincial Executive committee held its scheduled plenary meeting on the Sunday 16 October 2011 at Mbombela and assess the implementation of the SACP programmes in the Province. The political, Organizational and Financial reports were all presented and discussed.

The PEC noted that more ideological work should be done in COSATU and SANCO as well as building the ANC from below, in terms of swelling the ranks, building unity and defending its leadership.

2. Defending the Party and its leadership

The strength of the working class lies in the Organization and any Organization, not based on principle is meaningless, therefore the PEC resolved to continue defending and building a strong Communist Party in the province. The SACP will never allow communists to be compromised on their deployments because of manipulation from some other corrupt leaders in the Alliance, and the Party will continue to defend its members and won’t be intimidated by unscrupulous call of factional tendencies or to recall some hard working councillors who are refusing to be corrupted.

The SACP in this province remain intact, united, no factions but do hear some pockets of ill discipline emanating especially from some elements who were part of the disruption of the YCL National Congress in Mafikeng, mostly hijacked by Tenderpreneurs and working behind the scenes, and we will never tolerate this tendency but we are going to use the iron fist discipline, so as we can be able to deal with those counter revolutionary forces.

3. Anti-Corruption Campaign

Tenderpreneurs are looting the State and dispense patronage promising jobs to some of our comrades and end up by buying structures of the movement, The SACP is going to fight against the politics of patronage and money. Our province is slowly becoming a kleptocratic province, the postponed march on corruption for the SACP and COSATU is going to be held early next year in Mbombela.

4. The Red October Campaign

The SACP as a vanguard of the working class and the poor, always base its struggles on the interest of the working class and the poor, has been able to successfully take the 2011 Red October Campaign launch to the people at Sakhile, Stanwest community hall on the 9th of October 2011. The launch was grazed by a number of farm dwellers who participated and also raised their frustrations about one of the farmers around Standerton who is exploiting and abusing their human rights, that assisted the SACP to realise how frustrated and vulnerable are farm dwellers in Gert Sibande District after 17 years of democracy, we therefore resolved to intensify a rolling mass action against racist farmers in Standerton until farm workers are treated like other citizens in the country.

The theme for 2011 Red October is about transforming and strengthening of our post-school education and training system. The SACP is going to have its closing rally at Emakhazeni on the 13th of November 2011.
