SACP Mpumalanga PEC Statement
21 April 2015
Unite the peoples camp, neutralize our detractors and isolate the enemy
The SACP in Mpumalanga Province convened its 14th ordinary PEC plenary session on Sunday, 19 April 2015 at Mbombela. The PEC assessed the state of political developments in the province, nationally and internationally.
The PEC expressed the message of its heartfelt condolences to the comrades, friends, affected unions and families of SATAWU Gauteng Provincial Secretary Comrades Chris Nkosi and COSATUs new affiliated union LIMUSA President Sifiso Maphumulo.
The meeting was blessed with the presence of the National Organiser comrade Mhlekwa Nxumalo who attended the meeting in preparation for the Politburos visit to the province on 23 -26 April 2015.
The Politburo will hold its Ordinary Plenary Session in the province on Friday 24 April and conduct an assessment on the work of the Party throughout the province on Saturday and Sunday 25-26 April. This will include Red Forums to be addressed by PB members followed by 22nd Commemoration of Comrade Chris Hani assassination on Sunday, 26 April 2015 at KaNyamazane.
Fight against Xenophobia:
The PEC condemned the barbaric attacks on foreign nationals. Xenophobia is inhuman. It does not represent the culture of our movement and stands opposed human solidarity. We cannot condone these despicable actions regardless of their material basis which is the legacy of apartheid and capitalist exploitation and multiple crises. The workers must in fact unite for the elimination of this material basis independently of all nationality.
Defeat the demon of patronage!
We are deeply concerned by the high level of patronage in Mpumalanga. Branches within our movement have been reduced to be the endorsement platform of decisions taken by a few individuals meeting in corridors. This is not democracy but the dictatorship of factionalism.
Members are subjected to supporting individuals based on promises of deployments towards the 2016 local government elections. Some are literally being bought. Patronage is an enemy of the revolution and it is a tool used in this province to ferment political decay for individuals to be worshiped in the midst of scarce resources such as jobs.
Political Killings:
We are very concerned by the songs that were sung during the ANCs PGC inciting violence against leaders of the SACP. Lyrics for our leaders to be killed in particular our Provincial Secretary Bonakele Majuba were promoted. We do not take this very lightly, noting that the province is a well-known hotspot for political killings which have not been followed up - especially the perpetrators have not been arrested and convicted.
But be that as it may, we will never be intimidated by hooligans who will masquerade as revolutionaries whilst they are vulgarising what the movement stands for.
We pledge to defend our leaders in this province because what they say represents our collective analysis of the situation in the province.
The PEC affirms its unity and coherence despite the attempts by Lumpen-Tenderpreneurs to liquidate the SACP.
Many tried but failed to succeed in fighting the SACP - ideologically time tested organisation.
We stand by any media statements released by the organisation as that is a true reflection of the engagements and resolutions of our gatherings.
We however welcome the renewed commitment by the National Police Commissioner to resume investigations on these political killings.
The spy allegations cannot be buried
We reiterate our call on the national leadership of our country and the movement not to ignore the spy allegations in our province. These allegations are serious and must be investigated in order to bring justice and close the chapter.
The Swaziland Struggle
We congratulate the Communist Party of Swaziland for holding a successful Third National Congress that took place at Ehlanzeni TVET College - KaMhlushwa Campus. The congress was characterised by robust debates and the YCLSA and SACP played a vital role to enrich discussions.
We are concerned by the continued conspicuous consumption by the monarch.
King Mswatis III mother, Queen Ntomfi Tfwala, was surrounded by a large entourage of bodyguards when she went for medical examination at Netcare Milpark Hospital at the expense of the poor masses in Swaziland - which has the worlds highest HIV prevalence.
Palestine:
The SACP in the province will work closely with the solidarity forces to Palestinian struggles especially the BDS-SA movement. We remain committed to the campaign of boycotting goods made in Occupied Palestinian Territories and companies like the private security multinational G4S which are contracted in Israel to oppress the Palestinian people.
