SACP Mpumalanga PEC Statement

SACP Mpumalanga PEC Statement

8 September 2008

The Provincial Executive Committee sat on the 07 September 2008 at Emalahleni (Witbank). The main purpose of which was to prepare for the on coming national policy conference to be held by the end of this month.

The policy conference shall mainly be debating the party`s relationship to state power. The PEC debated at length about our relation to state power and unanimously agreed that there has to be a reconfiguration on the Alliance as per our national congress resolution of 2007 at Nelson Mandela Metro University.

The PEC felt strong that the Alliance should be a political centre, that it discuss and monitor policy implementation, Alliance partners should be part of deployment committees at all levels, party members deployed in government should be accountable to the party and also be able to articulate party position at all levels of government. The SACP and COSATU should have a percentage of direct representation at all levels of government.

We are, however conscious of the fact that what we said is and will be a subject of debate in the policy conference and shall persuade and be persuaded by other provinces if needs be.

The PEC also welcomes the closure of the R500 000 saga by the police against our General Secretary, cde Blade Nzimande. We had always maintained our unwavering support to him, we were convinced that such allegations were fabricated by the forces of darkness, aimed at dividing the party and attacking cde Blade`s integrity.

We are still convinced that such forces are still at pain trying to advance their dirty tricks using our former treasurer Phillip Dexter. He vowed to continue fighting the General Secretary of the SACP, implying attacking the SACP since 1921, the party faced a lot of serious challenges than Phillip Dexter and had overcame them. We are going to continue defending and advancing party positions, build elements capacity for and a momentum towards socialism. Phillip Dexter is but just a small fish used by re-actionery forces, who is like others before him, shall dismally fail.

As the PEC, we vowed to support the president of the ANC, further joining those who are calling for a political settlement of his case because it is a political trial any way, once there is a call for mass mobilization in his defence we shall heed that call enthusiastically with determination never seen in the country.

We wish to congratulate the ANC in our province for having organized a very successful, incident free and democratic provincial conference. We`re looking forward in working closely with the elected leadership in advancing the NDR that shall uninterruptedly take us to socialism.
