Tuesday, 16 June 2026: The South African Communist Party (SACP) conveys its message of condolences on the death of King Mabhena II of the amaNdebele akwaManala.
King Makhosoke Mabhena was appointed and crowned as the king of the Ndebele people in 1986, leading his people until he breathed his last on 9 June. He was known for his passion for education and, through his education foundation, supported over 100 students, helping them to obtain bachelor’s and master’s degrees as well as PhDs. The SACP appreciates his various initiatives through his kingship in the upliftment of the people, particularly those living in rural areas.
In memory of King Mabhena II, the SACP will continue to work the ground to unite the people of South Africa in furtherance of their demands for the restitution and redistribution of land as well as their upliftment, among other demands. Through the Conference of the Left, held on 29–31 May, the SACP made its sterling contribution to unite all forces of the left, including traditional leaders, towards waging a unified struggle towards meeting these goals.
