SACP Limpopo Provincial Council Declaration
2 October 2011
We, delegates to this Provincial Council of the SACP in Limpopo, are gathered here at the Tivumbeni College in Lawrence Phokanoka District, representing the mandates of communists from all the five districts of Limpopo. We have convened together with the comrades from Young Communists League, from our Alliance partners, fraternal formations and leaders of various sectors of our society.
The SACP recognises that Tivumbeni College was also a venue wherein our last provincial Congress took place in 2008 and to that extent we would like to thank our hosts for continuous support and hospitality.
In a Letter to His Father in 1837, Marx asserts that: "History calls those men the greatest who have ennobled themselves by working for the common good; experience acclaims as happiest the man who has made the greatest number of people happy."
We gathered here at the beginning of Our Red October Month, being mindful of the strategic tasks of the SACP in Limpopo as outlined in the "Report of the 15th Plenary Session of the 12th Congress Central Committee on Challenges facing the SACP in Limpopo province", which direct us, amongst other things, to:
- Rebuild the political confidence of members and structures, restore the tattered image and reclaim socialist character of the Party in the province.
- Rebuild the district structures starting with the systematic reorganisation of the DECs and rebuild structures and prepare them for district congresses
- Build unity and discipline of members of the SACP, service the working class formations, the trade unions, youth an students as well as broad structures
We are overall satisfied that the work of rebuilding the party in the province is on course, both in quantitative and qualitative terms. Discussions that took place in the plenary shall guide a programme of action to consolidate the qualitative aspects of rebuilding the party to ensure that leading to the provincial congress we have done sufficient work in building the party of communists.
As Marxist-Leninists, we strive for cadreship whose "morality is entirely subordinated to the interests of the proletariat`s class struggle". Further, as branches of the SACP in Limpopo, we shall spare no energy to ensure that the general thrust of this years Red October campaign is realised throughout the province.
We commit ourselves to build the party of communists that would struggle side by side with the proletariat, the rural poor, women, students, civil society organisations, the Alliance and all progressive forces to combat the following triple evils in our movement:
- Ill-discipline and grandstanding
- Factionalism and patronage
- Tenderpreneuship and corruption
We are confident that contrary to the seeming "infantile dis-order" of the worst kind purported by some demagogic elements in the youth movement, the SACP remains faithful to its Marxist-Leninist philosophical posture and its material role of being the vanguard of the working class. To this extent we reaffirm the perspective of the SACP on transformation of the commanding heights of the economy as mainly gearing towards the "socialisation of means of production".
We acknowledge the work that lie ahead to instil the revolutionary consciousness of our people to ensure that "side by side" we deepen the struggle for socio-economic emancipation. As the Freedom Charter says "we pledge ourselves to strive together, sparing neither strength nor courage, until the democratic changes here set out have been won".
The Party has throughout its 90 years of existence and proud history become a theoretical fountain in the Alliance that kept the liberation movement together. We salute the ANC on the eve of its centenary celebrations next year and we also salute the Marxist Leninist aligned SASCO in its 20th anniversary.
The SACP remains internationalist in its character and shall struggle alongside communist movements worldwide and all progressive movements to liberate the masses of the workers class. We note the intransigence of the United Nation in reforming its Security Council and its continuous political hijacking to support imperialist battles in Africa. We shall not rest until the people of Palestine are free to determine their destiny. We pledge solidarity with the toiling masses all over the world who still find themselves under feudal conditions such as in Swaziland. We continue to be inspired by the resilience of the people of Cuba after enduring the economic blockade imposed on them by the imperialist and un-neighbourly US.
Indeed, workers of the world should unite because they have nothing to lose, but their chains!
