SACP Gauteng Province welcomes the ANC Gauteng Political School and the Gauteng Planning Commission
26 January 2011
The SACP Gauteng Province welcomes the announcement of the soon to start ANC Gauteng Political School as agreed to during the ANC PEC Lekgotla held on 22-23 January 2011. The School will operate from the University of Johannesburg Soweto Campus. This is a significant milestone as it will contribute towards the development of quality cadres.
As the leader of the revolutionary alliance, the ANC has a responsibility to consciously and systematically develop cadres with high level of political consciousness, revolutionary foresight and discipline, ability to critically analyse and provide concrete solutions to challenges facing our communities.
This School comes at the right time when we are seized with the task of transforming the South African economy. Such a task requires correct tools of analysis and a proper grounding in revolutionary theory. We are confident that this School will lay a firm foundation towards the attainment of a skills revolution amongst the working class, hence the need to support this important initiative across the alliance formations.
We also welcome the decision to ask the Gauteng Provincial Government to speed up the process of setting up and fastracking functioning of the Gauteng Planning Commission. As communists, we are looking forward to play our meaningful role in the work of the Commission in order to represent the views and aspirations of the working class.
