SACP Gauteng Province congratulates the Gauteng 2011 Grade 12 Class
5 January 2012
SACP Gauteng Province welcomes the Gauteng 2011 Grade 12 results and congratulates the class of 2011 for its good performance. We also welcome the fact that our province achieved the second highest national performance, moving from 78.6 % pass rate in 2010 to 81%, which marks a 2.5% increase.
We wish to congratulate the MEC and her team for her leadership and job well-done. We dedicate this success to the role played by the Gauteng Department of Education (GDE), Educators, especially those organized under SADTU, Learners, Parents and the broader Gauteng community. The involvement and cooperation of all these stakeholders has since improved the quality of public education.
We further wish to congratulate those working class children who made it against all odds. The SACP in Gauteng calls upon these students to approach institutions of higher learning at all levels and take advantage of the improved conditions in these institutions. The Department of Higher Education under the stewardship of Minister Blade Nzimande has created much better conditions compared to anytime in the history of our education to make these institutions easily accessible to working class children, including access to funding. Institutions of higher learning should therefore implement the directive of the Department and not work against it.
Those who did not make it should not despair but should be encouraged to register to rewrite or repeat Grade 12". Finally, the SACP in Gauteng province will work hard to defend the quality of public education in the interest of working class children.
