SACP Gauteng Province congratulates ANC for a successful provincial conference

23 July 2018

The South African Communist Party (SACP) in Gauteng Province congratulates the African National Congress (ANC), our primary political Alliance partner, for holding a successful Provincial Conference over the weekend.

We are deeply convinced that the outcomes of the Provincial Conference provides a solid basis for the Reconfigured Alliance as the only solid basis for the unity of the revolutionary people and the motive forces of the National Democratic Revolution (NDR).

We further believe that the outcomes of the Conference, and the unwavering commitment to intensify the fight against corporate capture of the state and rampant corruption constitute the basis upon which to defend, advance and consolidate the NDR as the direct building block to socialism.

We are convinced that the clear pronouncements of the Provincial Conference on corporate capture of the state and corruption will be the core and shared political programme of the Reconfigured Alliance.

We are even much more encouraged that the principled fight to rid our province of any tendency that borders on looting, maladministration and the use of state institutions to privilege personal accumulation, is now even more solid than ever.

The outcomes of the ANC Provincial Conference prepare us for yet another Provincial Congress of our class Alliance partner Cosatu, starting this week in Soweto.

This will also be followed by the SACP`s Provincial Executive Committee (PEC) Lekgotla that will conduct a much more deeper and scientific analysis of the outcomes of the two Provincial Conferences.

Through such an analysis, we will then be in a position to present a comprehensive class analysis of the interface of the subjective and objective factors as the only correct basis for a Programme of Action based on the truth and real balance sheet of power in our province.

In our forthcoming PEC Lekgotla, we will also conduct a much more deeper and scientific analysis of an emerging phenomena in the broad movement that present itself as a "slate economy" based on the alleged rampant use of money to fund factional slates during conferences.

We will pay special attention to this fast growing informalised but highly organised and sophisticated "new" political economy, with its economic value, logistics and infrastructure to commodify leadership contests in what is clearly becoming the "slate market".

As announced by the newly elected Provincial Chairperson, comrade David Makhura, we will eagerly await the outcomes and action to be taken on the alleged use of money to influence election outcomes. We pledge our full support to work side-by-side with the newly elected leadership to decommodify and unravel this emerging nefarious "slate market".

We welcome and congratulate the newly elected leadership collective and look forward to fraternal working relationship as we advance the NDR.
