SACP Gauteng Province condemns the EFF barbaric attack of a Soshanguve Church
08 August 2015
The South African Communist Party (SACP) Gauteng Province strongly condemns backward acts of barbarism by the proto-fascist Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) following their violent campaign against evangelical congregations in Soshanguve, Tshwane.
The SACP is not surprised but rather vindicated that the EFF has, true to its character as a Nyaope infested fascist mob, responded to an act of Rightwing Christian fundamentalism of these evangelical pastors, by acting in an equally barbaric and backward manner.
We noted the EFF`s desperate attempt to distance itself from the burning of the church tent.
The EFF must bear shared responsibility with its bedfellow pastor, for exploiting the naivety of the congregation, towards political and elitist agendas respectively.
They both displayed contempt for the working class and poor, through religious and fanatical extremism.
This clearly shows that the EFF has embraced a heartless campaign against the church, after this pastor is believed to have turned snakes, grass and other such unpalatable things into appetizers for church-goers, under the pretext that it is sacred and divinely delivered.
We condemn these bizarre superstitious practices and religious fantasies by both the fascist EFF and the barbaric pastor. They both aid the justification of exploitation of working families in a capitalist society and they assist with the dominating influence of the ruling bourgeois class.
They are equally in serious violation of the constitutional entitlement for citizens to exercise freedom of religion, and both should be investigated by the South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC).
Rather than patiently educate the working class and liberate them from religious fantasies and superstitious outlook through revolutionary consciousness, the demagogic EFF went on a violent rampage, disrupted the church proceedings, sent the pastor packing and burnt the prefabricated tent belonging to the church.
The SACP maintains its view that the EFF represents a new fascist pole of reaction, to whom the church is now an added target. It is a bedfellow of the rightwing fundamentalist pastors, both of whose actions must be combated by all working people of this country.
