SACP Gauteng Province applauds the working class for a peaceful and successful voter registration weekend
7 March 2016
The SACP Gauteng Province commends the overwhelming majority of the people of our province who are working class and poor for their resounding and overwhelming peaceful participation in a voter registration process over the weekend.
The peaceful, democratic and tranquil nature of the voter registration process dealt yet another severe blow to forces of low intensity counter-revolution hard at work to use violence and anarchy to undermine our hard won democracy.
Our country and province saw the use of violence in the mining sector, communities and of late campuses to engineer a counter-revolutionary destabilization campaign. We are fully aware that Imperialism and historic enemies of the National Democratic Revolution (NDR) targeted the youth and especially the students, exploiting their legitimate demands to influence the mood prior to the voter registration and election period.
As we celebrate and commemorate in this month the revolutionary life of Hugo Chavez, we are reminded of the Imperialist strategy of using violence and anarchy targeting youth and students to undermine the revolution in Venezuela. This includes the mobilization of youth and students to stage the so called "Arab Spring" counter-revolution.
The SACP applauds the revolutionary and militant sections of students and youth for isolating and rejecting fanatics of violence and anarchy, more often resorting to racist, populist and neo-fascist "hot air" to entrench a lumpen and backward culture of violence and anarchy especially amongst the youth and students.
The SACP calls on sections of the revolutionary youth and students and the working class in general to continue to isolate and reject this marauding remnants of neo-fascism and racism disguised in revolutionary sounding phraseology and cheap rhetoric.
We are confident that the working class and poor of our province will defend, deepen and take forward the NDR.
We reaffirm our unwavering conviction that the working class remains the only motive force that is historically well positioned and capable of defending the ANC as a revolutionary movement of the historically oppressed people.
We remain steadfast and resolute in our conviction that the working class is the only class capable of leading all other forces, classes and strata in the second more radical phase of the NDR. Other strata and classes simple decay and tremble during the most testing moments in the revolutionary process, especially when confronted with counter-revolution.
