SACP Gauteng congratulates the Gauteng Provincial Government for successful June 16 Memorial Programme
16 June 2014
The South African Communist Party in Gauteng Province congratulates the Gauteng Provincial Government led by the Premier Comrade David Makhura for a successful June 16 Memorial Programme.
The programme witnessed hundreds of working class people taking part in a memorial march from the Morris Isaacson to Phefeni High schools. This was part of the Youth Day celebrations to commemorate the working class youth that were brutally killed by colonial apartheid forces for marching against the use of Afrikaans as medium of instruction in schools.
We are deeply pleased that this event led by Premier Makhura was by and large attended by the masses of the working class and poor youth. This is certainly consistent with the character of the ANC-led Alliance as a revolutionary movement and a disciplined force of the left.
The SACP in the province takes this opportunity to encourage the provincial Government to sustain this posture, rooting itself amongst the working class and focusing government services towards poor communities. This is indeed a stepping stone towards an active developmental state and implementation of key policies in the radical phase of the National Democratic Revolution.
As the SACP in Gauteng, we remain convinced that this revolutionary posture will go a long way towards delivering an overwhelming victory in the forthcoming local government elections and fulfilling the basic needs of the working class and the poor.
