The South African Communist Party (SACP) in Gauteng province congratulates comrade David Makhura on his election as the Premier of the province. The SACP also applauds the appointment of comrade Ntombi Mekgwe as the speaker of the Gauteng Legislature.
Both comrades Makhura and Mekgwe have, over the years, shown strong leadership capabilities in how they have navigated challenging circumstances, with diligence and care.
The SACP also congratulates newly sworn in Deputy Speaker comrade Vuyo Mhlakaza, Chair of Chairs, comrade Sizakele Malobane Nkosi, Deputy Chair of Chairs comrade Mpapa Kanyane. We also applaud Chief Whip Mzi Khumalo and Deputy Chief Whip comrade Thoko Magagula on their election.
The SACP believes this team of tried and tested leaders of the revolutionary movement is a step forward for the working class and the poor in our province. We believe that the 5th administration of the province and previous administrations have laid solid ground for the 6th administration to continue building a better future for all who live in our province, the working class in particular.
The SACP applauds the ANC caucus for uniting behind this calibre of leaders who have a proven track record of serving the people of our province and the country. We are confident that this team of tried and tested cadres will continue the difficult task of turning South Africa and our province around – a task that began in earnest under the leadership of President Cyril Ramaphosa.
In particular, the SACP is committed to rally behind this team towards building the unity of the working class and their entire populace of the province as mandated by the electorate.
