The South African Communist Party (SACP) in Gauteng Province extols and appreciates the announcement made by Premier David Makhura to appoint comrade Dumisani Dakile as his Special Advisor on the economy. Comrade Dakile is an all-rounded cadre in both theory and practice who organically emerged and grew from the ranks of the revolutionary trade union movement.
We believe that he is better prepared and well positioned to execute this task to the best of his ability and guided by profound ethical and revolutionary morality. We commend comrade Dakile for his unconditional acceptance of his redeployment as exemplary and an outstanding submission to the collective authority of the revolutionary Alliance and not a degenerate personal loyalty to a “post”.
We further welcome the announcement that comrade Parks Tau, who is also the Provincial Treasurer of the African National Congress (ANC) has been sworn-in as MEC for Economic Development, Environment, Agriculture and Rural Development. We extend our fraternal salute to comrade Tau for equally demonstrating unwavering maximum discipline and revolutionary submission to the collective decisions of the revolutionary Alliance.
We commend cde Tau for accepting his redeployment from being a Deputy Minister in a manner that is consistent with the profound and historic traditions and practices of our revolutionary movement. As a matter of emphasis, we call on all our cadres to remain loyal to a cause and not a “post”.
We believe that the combined and simultaneous redeployment of both comrades can only strengthen the capacity of the provincial government to drive its vision of Growing Gauteng Together-2030 to achieve Transformation, Modernisation and Re-industrialisation of the province.
We are convinced that the contradictions imposed by the directly interconnected three sources of the persisting legacy of Colonialism of a Special Type (CST), the severity of capitalist crisis and now the Covid-19 pandemic poses an existential threat to the working class and revolutionary people.
It is in this context that we require a developmental state with cadres imbued with revolutionary consciousness and capacity to tilt the scale of power and push back the frontiers of a neo-liberal austerity in favour of a revolutionary path of socio-economic development and transformation.
In line with the statement we issued last week, we extend our best wishes to comrade Morakane Mosupyoe and Dr Nomathemba Mokgethi on their redeployment.
We wish these comrades well in their new revolutionary tasks ahead.
